I need a nice and clean Marine Crops emblem for a project, any one have one to share or sell? I have tried to pick one up off the net but quality is poor.
Thanks in advance for your help

TRPIBOGEY,

Be careful with this. All military ensignia have now been registered and you'll need permission to reproduce them even one time. It was never this way before as most DoD stuff was considered public domain. But that has changed. I'm also told that if you get fined the $1500 you'll pay will go to the MWR fund of that particular service. On the other side, there is a book out who's name escapes me at the moment, that tells you how to go about getting permission to use a military logo. You might want to do a little more research on this to find that book just to keep yourself out of trouble. Just a friendly suggestion.

Very Happy

Trpibogey,

This is great news!

Would you care to share photos of your finished product with the rest of us? Also would it be possible for you to post in this forum how you were able to get the Marines to "allow" you to use their emblem? This is an on going issue, especially for those of us who deal with military customers, and other copyrighted logo's such as the NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB/Harley Davidson/Ford/HP etc, on regular basis. Thanks in advance from all of us if you would be so kind to do so.

That book I mentioned previously is titled "Getting Permission: How to License & Clear Copyrighted Materials Online & Off" written by Attorney Richard Stim, and published by NOLO. I have the 3rd edition and got it from Amazon. It also comes with an instructional DVD.

Hope this helps you and everyone else out there with the same issues.

I look forward to seeing photos of your completed USMC product.

All the best.

cheers Very Happy

Actually the uncle of the Lt. Commander that was to recieve the award, made a quick call to the correct people, explained the timeline and got a quick email permission sent to me. Now if you want to use any military logo all you have to do is write to Dept of Defense, request permission. No cost to use. However it takes a bit of time to register. Once done, you can use the logos from that point on. Just have to be a registered user
