This was posted by trplbogie in another post and I thought he might be a good source of info on this process since he has just gone through the process. And of course if anyone else is knowledgeable about the subject feel free to share!!

I have entered into several license agreements for logos and have managed to get permission from NFL properties. College is next to impossible and was part of my marketing plan.

How did you do that i would like to know how because i would like to make some up in wood for a gaming fans out there

went online got phone # for NFL Properties, talked to them about what I want to do, work out of the garage, no retail distribution, small operation etc. All they wanted to do was for me to submit the design for their approval. However since we are little guys plan on them taking a long time to get back to you.
I cannot put any NFL stuff on website or in flyers or brouchures. Can only advertise word of mouth.

I had a Fluer de Lis on my site and they made me take it down, too close to Saints. So off it came.

I had writen a letter to games workshop . They own some game warhammer 40k and lord of the rings that i play here at a local shop
but they said no and the guy'sare begging me to make a plake for them to show off at the convition up in maryland
i will try agine

Warhammer et al,

Check out the following book for any and just about all information on getting permission for the use of ALL (including US Government) logos.

"Getting Permission: How to License & Clear Copyrighted Materials Online & Off" by Attorney Richard Stim, published by NOLO and available through Amazon.
